Our business strives to reduce its carbon footprint in part because we are located in Lake Forest Park, a community with strong green values.

Whenever possible we choose products that are earth–friendly, chemically gentle, produced with the best information science has to offer, rather than products that use chemical fillers and thickeners. Our retail center carries products we use that are not available in other stores.

We recycle, of course, whenever we can, and, just as important, we carefully calculate product mixtures to keep waste to a minimum.

Our salon professionals regularly attend seminars and workshops to update and improve our knowledge and skills.

We are also one of the apprenticeship salons state-wide, educating salon professionals. This program is based on the European training and apprenticeship model. Students enrolled in this program obtain their Cosmetology license working one–on–one with a mentor and meet fellow apprentices once a month for instruction and progress evaluations.

A Better Day Salon worked with the state legistature to make this a permanent program in Washington. It costs the state nothing and statistics indicate that people who learn on the job tend to stay in the business longer than students who merely attend classes to obtain their licenses. This program is designed for the person who may not be able to afford Beauty School and needs to receive a paycheck while attending classes.

We also place a strong value on educating our community‘s children. Every year the Salon gives a dictionary to all fourth graders in our town's public gradeschools during the first weeks of school. Read more . . .

We support our neighborhood gathering places:Third Place Commons and the Lake Forest Park Farmer's Market.

As an AVEDA Salon we are committed to caring for the world we  live in by participating in Earth Month, which raises funds for the Puget Soundkeepers Alliance and the Global Green Grant Fund.
